Intelligent Approaches for Going Green

Oil and Everyday Life
Oil is used in many everyday objects—more than you may have ever imagined. By clicking on the colorized objects on this World of Oil Web page, your students will learn how oil may have been used to create each object.

These energy-related resources will help you integrate ideas for “Going Green” into your classroom activities.

Put Energy into Education
The nonprofit National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project promotes an energy-conscious and educated society by working with energy companies, agencies and organizations to bring balanced energy programs to the nation’s schools, with a focus on strong teacher professional development and timely and balanced curriculum materials.

NEED’s Saving Energy at Home and School Teacher Guide and Student/Family Guide were created as part of NEED’s residential energy conservation programming. The lessons and activities can be taught in the classroom with the NEED Saving Energy Kit and the Saving Energy Home Kits for each student.

NEED’s new Nuclear Energy Module includes a Teacher Guide for Exploring Nuclear Energy and Energy from Uranium and Student Guides for Exploring Nuclear Energy (secondary) and Energy from Uranium (elementary/intermediate).

"This is the kind of information I would have spent hours researching myself."
